Sample Letter of Resignation

Dear Eric:

This letter is to formally announce my resignation from Zao Noodle Bar, Inc., starting today. My last day will be January 16, 2007.  If you need me to stay longer, please speak with me so we can find a date that will work for both of us.

Vision Creation, Inc. has offered to expand my duties as a marketing intern.  Since my new duties at the internship will take 20 hours a week, I need to leave Zao to have time to stay on top of my schoolwork and other responsibilities.

It has been a pleasure to work at Zao.  It’s always a fun, challenging and dynamic environment.  I hope that, under the right circumstances, the option exists for me to work for the Zao team again.  Please let me know how I can help to make a smooth transition during my remaining time here.
