To Whom It May Concern:
Subject: Personal Statement
The college experience to date has been filled with forming a tight bond with my three roommates, sports, parties, lots of homework, student organizations and an ever-widening view of the ‘real world.’
My educational aims consist of spending enough time on schoolwork to stay active and involved in my classes. I also choose to achieve grades that will allow me to procure interviews for jobs that interest me, receive scholarships so I can finish my undergraduate degree and, eventually, aid me in getting in to challenging MBA programs. Although I would like to work for a few years after college, I think going back to school and working for an MBA degree would aid my growth and increase my effectiveness.
The job market is full off exciting and unique opportunities that appeal to my various values and dreams. Each week, I meet with one of my old professors, Martin Westerman, for an hour to work on finding a career choice that I can commit to. The areas I am looking into now are finance, alternative energy sources, consulting and team management. Some of the terms I relate to a job I would like to have are: flexibility, positive environment, engaging, individuality, money, helping people, helping environment and pushing science forward.
Putting myself through college over the last three years has made me a much wiser and appreciative person. Although my Mom claims me as a dependant, I am completely independent financially. I support myself through jobs like the internship I had selling educational books door-to-door on the East Coast for over 80 hours week one summer, or serving food at ZAO Noodle Bar down in the village.
Although I could support myself working at those jobs, I would not have time to satisfy my standards and do the good work I do in class. Financial aid, such as the Alumnae Board Scholarship, provides me with the means to free myself of the financial burden that would otherwise keep me from using my energies to achieve success with my studies, to provide leadership for the business fraternity and to excel in my internships.
Best regards,
